The first mention of the group "Spleen" refers to 1994. After releasing two albums "Dusty Reality" (1994) and "Arms Collector" (1995), the group acquired a cult status in their native St. Petersburg. In 1997, the disc "Lantern under the Eye" was released, which brought "Spleen" all-Russian fame. In the summer of 1997, the group first participated in MAXIDROME (the songs "English-Russian Dictionary" and "Love Goes Through the Wires" were promoted by radio stations) and performed in a number of concerts together with "Aquarium". The peak of the group's popularity came in 1998, when the "Pomegranate Album" was released, which contained the anthem to the domestic subway "There is no way out" and the "song about a girl" "Orbit without sugar". At that time, only Mumiy Troll could argue with "Spleen" in popularity. It is no coincidence that the central event of MAXIDROME-98 was an unspoken duel between "Trolls" and "Spleen". The performance ended in a draw - each of the performers showed a lot of their own merits...

The disc "Altavista", which appeared in 1999, became a turning point in his biography. Vasiliev and the team did not do what everyone expected of them, but what they themselves wanted to do. This immediately affected the popularity. And although the songs "Good Deeds Master", "Pil-Kuril" and "Something Else" hit the top twenty of the Radio MAXIMUM hit parade, the album did not cause much excitement. Vasiliev took this result painfully, as a result of which the group refused any concert activity for six months.

Spleen released a very strong disc "25th frame", which became a kind of compromise between the team's two previous albums. Their hits stand out "We stay to winter", "Line of Life" and the version of the song "Fellini" - another anthem of the lost generation.

"We are either elevated to heaven or trampled into the dirt. My task is to stay exactly in the middle between heaven and earth: in this state, you can completely calmly assess what is happening to you and the world. It seems to me that with each new album I am getting closer and I’m getting closer to this state,” says Vasiliev. On May 19, at the MAXIDROME, you will be able to see for yourself that his words are right.
